Located in Brazil, Santa Marina has been producing different glass products since 1895. The factory location is close to raw material deposits of boron and sand which is rich in color and quality. During the production process, these raw materials are combined using heat to make borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is resistant to changes in temperatures used in cooking and baking. The raw materials also give Marinex glass bakeware a slight bluish tint consistant throughout all pieces. Marinex Glass Bakeware offers several shapes and sizes that have countless uses in culinary activities and are prominent by their beauty, durability, and ease of cleaning. Poor packaging
Nothing wrong with the product but packaged poorly....ultimately recieved 6 sets...4 out of six sets had broken pieces. Eventually gave up trying to get the three unbroken sets that I originally ordered.

just as the other reviewer noted, the product is great (nice heavy glass, well-fitted lids that can easily run through the dishwasher), but only if yours happens to arrive intact. i ordered two boxes and in both cases found the bottom round bowls that were nested together had turned into glass hunks and dust. besides the obvious safety issues, this is just such an avoidable waste of time for everyone involved-more padding in the box bottom would have easily prevented the breakage. not feeling comfortable returning boxes full of broken glass, i have put a call into the manufacturer for individual replacement pieces. will update with results!

Update: Just a few days after calling Anchor Hocking, I received replacements for the broken pieces. Much better than trying to send everything back to Amazon and risking another box of broken stuff. Thanks, Anchor Hocking! Product is now worthy of 5 stars :).

The hardest working bowl in the kitchen.
My two favorite food preparation vessels are the unlined copper bowl my wife gave me as a Christmas present, and this Anchor Hocking batter bowl. When we get together in the kitchen, you just know that a batch of Belgian waffles, pancakes or cornbread is on the way.

The bowl is made from thick-walled oven and microwave safe glass and includes a cover for use in the refrigerator or microwave oven. The cover also doubles as a bowl rest, catching any dribbles of batter before they hit the countertop. The sloping sides help you get a hand mixer's beaters into every drop of your batter and the handle provides rock-steady control when you pour. The molded-in quantity markings allow it to do double-duty as a 2-quart measuring cup in half-cup increments. The clincher, of course, is that the bowl and cover go right into the dishwasher after the last waffle is baked.

AWESOME for anyone who does alot of baking...
My mother had some older "batter bowls" and when one of her two ended up breaking, I replaced it with this. The quality is excellent! The glass is thick and having the lid is just wonderful. It makes storing any left over batter easy! I don't see how anyone who bakes can live without this. The handle makes it easy to stir or pour your ingredients without making a horrible mess. Just a must-have necessity for your kitchen. You too, won't know how you got along before without it!

The better storage container

After buying several of these boxes and a couple of other sizes as well, I am so pleased with them, I've just purged my cupboards of most other containers. The easy and secure locking top is great for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that if one falls while I'm sorting through the fridge, it doesn't spill all over the place. The food seems to stay fresh longer and they stack nicely in the fridge, freezer and cupboard.

They don't nest, but do stack on top of one another well with their tops on, so that is how I store them and never have to search for a top when I'm ready to use the container. Both top and bottom do well in the dishwasher on the top shelf, and in fact fit in there better than other containers I've used in the past. You can removed the ring in the top if you need to for cleaning--there is a little notch which allows you to get hold of it without damaging it.

This is a very useful size so having several on hand has been helpful to me. I still have some grocery store boxes for things I am giving to someone, but I'm keeping these for me :) I'm very pleased with them and recommend them.

Great lunch container
I was looking for a container that would fit well in my lunch bag. These were the perfect size and I was pleasantly surprised that the construction was pristine. The unit seals well and just feels like a quality product. Highly recommended.

nicer than i ever expected!
I needed a large glass casserole, and had trouble finding one in the stores. Bought this one on-line, and it was nicer than expected. Have used it several times and it was perfect!
